Independent Answers Since 1982
CIC Inspection & Consulting team at Edmonton NDT laboratory and head office
About CIC Inspection & Consulting
CIC Inspection & Consulting Ltd. has served Alberta's inspection needs since 1982 — four decades of testing welds, materials, equipment and structures for the province's energy and infrastructure builders. Head office and laboratories in Edmonton; satellite offices positioned across the country; one product throughout: impartial answers backed by certified people.
Independence Is the Business Model
CIC doesn't fabricate, weld or repair — so no CIC report ever grades CIC's own work. We exist to provide authoritative, impartial expert advice and safety assurance through non-destructive testing, and that impartiality is why fabricators, owners and engineers can all use the same report without arguing about whose side it's on.
The People Behind the Reports
Our team pairs seasoned managers with experienced NDE inspectors and engineering technicians — staff holding CGSB certifications across the NDT methods, and CWB and AWS credentials for welding inspection. Certifications are the entry ticket; the value is people who've seen your defect before, on someone else's project, and know what it means.
Our Own Laboratory
CIC operates one of the largest independent metallurgical testing labs in Western Canada — the difference between a testing company and a company that can also tell you why. Failure investigations, weld procedure qualifications and welder testing run in-house, in Edmonton, under one chain of custody with our field services.
Practical by Design
Forty years in this market teaches one lesson repeatedly: inspection serves the project, not the other way around. That's why our story is one of service excellence and continual improvement — developing practical, cost-saving inspection solutions and adopting the technology (phased array, TOFD, digital methods) that gets clients better answers faster.
Where We Work
Edmonton is home — head office, lab and dispatch — with satellite offices extending coverage across Western Canada and beyond. Field crews mobilize to plants, shops, sites and remote work; samples and specimens come home to the lab.
